Eveque is one of the more punishing bosses you’ll face in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably hit a wall with him. Don’t worry—this guide walks you through every phase of the fight and gives you the edge to take him down for good.
Before You Fight: Max Out Your Area Level
First thing’s first—level up all the way in the area before taking on Eveque.
You’ll know you’ve reached the soft cap when XP gain slows way down and leveling feels like a grind. If you’re constantly resting and fighting the same mobs just for scraps of XP, you’re there. Trust me, going into this boss fight under-leveled is a mistake.
Pro Tip: Check online resources or in-game cues to confirm when you’ve fully leveled the area. It’s the difference between a close win and a rage-quit.
Recommended Attack Types: Fire, Lightning, and Burn
Eveque is especially vulnerable to Fire and Lightning attacks. You’ll also want to use Shooting to break shields and apply pressure.
Burn effects are your best friend in this battle—burn damage stacks up over time and continues after each round, making it easier to chip away while you dodge or reload.
Phase 1: Breaking the Shields
Eveque opens the fight with three shields.
-
Use Aim and shoot at the center crystal. This will instantly shatter two shields.
-
Land one more shot, and you’ll be able to deal actual damage.
Keep your distance and stay mobile. Now’s not the time to spam melee unless you’re confident in your dodge timing.
Dodging the Ice Attacks
Eveque’s main attack is an Ice Burst that follows a 3-count rhythm. Timing is everything here.
Dodge Tip: Count “1… 2… 3″—then dodge on three. Don’t guess. Learn the rhythm and move consistently.
He also uses an Ice Lance that’s harder to read. The best time to dodge it is:
-
When the lance gets close, or
-
Just after it leaves his hand
Either way, stay focused and avoid panic-rolling.
Dealing with Minions
At around mid-fight, Eveque will summon two minions. These aren’t too tough, but you don’t want them around when Eveque is charging big attacks.
-
Focus on shattering their cores first.
-
Once exposed, take them down quickly.
-
Clear the board before turning your attention back to Eveque.
Ignoring them will only get you overwhelmed—handle them efficiently.
Overcharge and Gustave’s Big Hit
Once your Overcharge meter is full, Gustave will unleash a powerful special attack. This is your chance to swing the battle in your favor.
This hit will drop Eveque’s health significantly, giving you breathing room before the final phase.
Final Phase: Enraged Mode and Extra Shields
Once Eveque’s health drops below 30%, he becomes enraged.
-
He adds eight new shields (yes, eight).
-
You’ll need to chip them down slowly with shooting and high-damage elemental attacks.
-
Stay patient—rushing will only get you hit.
If you’ve maxed out your level and kept your cooldowns ready, this part is manageable. Just stay alert and finish him off.
