Today is the start of Early Access with Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker, and it has been along time since I was “players in queue: 2813” on PS5. The highly anticipated release has players standing online to play and at all hour of the morning. At the end of the day it is the still jam packed with players. The Server has kicked me off a number of times on PS5 while waiting on a 1,000+ players in queue.
Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Gameplay
Here are some the first instances of gameplay in Endwalker:
During the trip to Sharlayan, the Solitary Island Nation, you head to the front of the ship to your surprise you meeting the Lady of Light (not going to spoil that for you, but am glad it happened right out of the gate). The game story setup is definitely shocking considering who previously represented the Light.
Upon arriving, you find out that the city is not welcoming and several characters family past will be a major factor later on in the story some how. While other characters might be expelled from the city if they take one toe out of line.
Did I mention the game is jammed pack right now. Could not even click on the mission from a PS5.
Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Early Access Verdict
Regardless of the long wait time to get onto the server and it is definitely worth it. The first 30 minutes makes you want to play straight through to level 90 over the next 72 hours. I wonder if drinking Red Bull is still a thing.
