Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Background

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been an overwhelming success for both Nintendo and the Zelda series as a whole. Before the release of BotW in 2017, Hyrule Warriors was released in 2014 and is a game that utilizes the mechanics of the esteemed Dynasty Warriors series made by Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja.
On September 8th, 2020, Nintendo unveiled Link and Zelda’s next hack-and-slash adventure in the form of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Unlike the first game, which had its own story, Age of Calamity lets us dive further into the story of Breath of the Wild. It will depict what happened before the events of Breath of the Wild. We will finally get to see why Link was asleep for 100 years and how Calamity Ganon came to be.

While the first game had aesthetics similar to traditional Dynasty Warriors games, Age of Calamity utilizes the assets used in Breath of the Wild. Players will be able to enjoy brand new content with the familiar, open world atmosphere that Breath of the Wild is known for.
Plus, with Breath of the Wild 2 currently being developed, it is a great way to pass the time as we wait for the long awaited sequel. Setting the story aside, this game is 15.7 GB in size. That said, this game will have plenty of content to explore. Slash your way through hordes of hundreds of enemies, fuse powerful weapons and immerse yourself for an unforgettable adventure!
What’s more is that we won’t have to wait much longer for its release either! Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will release on November 20th, 2020 on the Nintendo Switch. This gives you plenty of time to get your pre-order in. If you’re someone who prefers going digital, you’re in luck! Pre-order the digital version for an exclusive weapon called the Lucky Ladle. Use this special weapon to stir up a storm during combat or spice up another weapon’s stats as you fuse it.
Finally, in addition to the release of the game, Age of Calamity comes with its own set of amiibo! There are four amiibo to collect; Daruk, Revali, Mipha and Urbosa. Scan these into your copy of the game to receive unique rewards.

You are tasked to create your home and the homes of others on the island.

According to Sony’s Official Twitter account:
Let’s be honest: PS5 preorders could have been a lot smoother. We truly apologize for that.
Over the next few days, we will release more PS5 consoles for preorder – retailers will share more details.
And more PS5s will be available through the end of the year.
Looks like regular monsters (zombies and skeletons) are covered in poison clouds while most archers shoot poison at you.
This area is populated with plant monsters that block your way and attack you from a distance. The area also is entirely poison driven. You can be shot with poison or an arrow by 70% of enemies you will face and the poison lasts for 5 seconds or so. I find slaying enemies and ocelots (seems messed up doing it) gives a potion called oakwood brew that protects you for a short period of time with oakwood armor that last about 15 seconds.
On main thing to note is that the vines give tons of souls for you equipped items.
There is a huge beast that reminds me of the elves protector in World of Warcraft, but it does act the same way. This monster will leap and jump at you like an actual beast. The beast is super easy to kill with Corrupt Beacon. There is a mag plant creature that scream summons one of the 2 plants of this area in a targeted attack.
The first secret location is located after you start “explore the vine maze”. It is in the center of the vine maze. To second secret location (dungeon) is located in “follow the pass” part of the mission.
This area has the same monsters as the Dingy Jungle Mission.
There is a trap you face while you are exploring the Temple to the Tangle in the Temple. You Get locked in the cove in the far left in the middle of the temple. Then as you continue forward you face 4 enchanted skeleton horseman that really do not attack you but are easy to kill with a long-distance attack like Corrupt Beacon.
Next you go to Behold the Jewel which triggers an ambush. Make sure you have a way to kill the huge monster plant beasts as they come at you in greater number than usual.
Then there is a Room (side dungeon) that comes with an ambush and a chest once you defeat all of the enemies.
There is the same trap you face while you are going to the Temple’s center. It is a little tougher than the first trap as the ambush includes huge monster beast.
To open secret location (the second room (dungeon)) you need to hit the tabs on the left and right side of the second tunnel statue. Then keep moving the statues on the left and right side until the gold plate points the center. Once inside, there are 2 chest you can get. The first is simply gotten by following the tunnel to the end. Then the 2 second one is acquired by hitting a ambush tab in the back on the left side. Once you defeat the ambush a chest will appear.
The first thing that I had noticed as soon as I started up the game was the graphics. The pictures were crisp and clean. You could walk up to a plant and see all the details. The colors are vibrant and keep your eyes on the screen. The next big thing is that this game is an entirely open world. Unlike old games where you see a certain point in the game, it is mostly background and unreachable. Well, not in this game. You see a mountain and want to go there, you can. I spent hours running around just exploring the land. Another good thing about the open-world concept is that you can do the missions in any order. However, you will know if you’re not strong enough for a particular destination. *cough* Lynel *cough*
The story is another part of the game that takes your breath away. Usually, I will button mash to skip the story. However, in this game, the visuals are appealing and are almost as if you’re watching a movie. Every time you find a piece of Link’s memory, it plays automatically. You slowly begin to understand what happened during the calamity as you try and regain your powers. The characters are all unique, along with the different territories. I would always be excited to travel to the next land and discover what it would be. Each region has special armor for Link, such as Gerudo armor, for the intense heat of the Gerudo Desert.
Cooking has also been a favorite of mine. There are hundreds of food combinations that you can make for Link to eat and regain strength and stamina. You can make curry or dubious food (when you make something wrong). Of course, it makes you want to further explore the game so you can set your sights for some rare goodies to cook for later.
Overall, it is another all-time favorite for any Zelda fan or adventurer to try.
Looking forward to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. Hoping more information and confirmations on its creation come soon.
