The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Review

It’s been a long time, a decade to be precise, but Nintendo is reviving one of the major entries in the Zelda franchise as a remastered version. Originally a Wii title, the game brought with its advent a new story and a revamped art style for the series. As a remaster on the Switch, there are going to inevitably be a few differences from the base game. skyward sword review scene

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Story

The game takes place in the fantastical world of Skyloft. It’s a floating island floating above the surface of a ruined world. Of course, the general population is convinced that the world below the clouds is nothing more than a myth. Link, in this incarnation, is training to be a knight. He passes an exam and during a flight to celebrate the occasion, Princess Zelda is turned into a damsel in distress. In her defense, most people don’t fare so well against a tornado. She’s pulled beneath the clouds. In traditional fashion, Link must take on the mantle of a hero and rescue her. Of course, there is more than just her kidnapping at play. A dark lord named Ghirahim plans to demolish civilization as everyone knows it. He’s working to bring back The Demon King: Demise. He’s the deity that subjected the world below to his wrath. Canonically, this game takes place at the beginning of the Zelda timeline. The events of the game are instrumental in the formation of Hyrule, the normal setting of the series.

Controls & Visuals in Skyward Sword

The whole point of the Wii revolved around the usage of motion controls. In fact, it was one of the major points of contention of the base game as the entire control scheme relied on this concept. How does the remaster improve upon this issue? The developers at Nintendo have rigged a solution where the player has two control settings options they can pick from for their adventure. Option A attempts to emulate the functions of the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck with improved motion controls, courtesy of the Joy-Con. Option B, on the other hand, goes for a more traditional Zelda control scheme. The right analog stick is used in lieu of motion controls for the sword Link wields. While the game doesn’t boast visuals on the same level as Breath of the Wild, they have added higher-resolution graphics to Skyward Sword. Most importantly, the game now boasts 60 frames per second. The facelift they’ve given this title is nice to look at with its colorful visuals. skyward sword fight scene

Gameplay Changes from Original Version

While large segments of the gameplay are identical to the base version, the developers have implemented a few revamps to improve the overall experience. They’ve made the excessive tutorials from the base game less grating. Many of Fi’s hints have become optional, dialogue boxes and cutscenes can be skipped. The most important of the features is the inclusion of an autosave function and Amiibo support.

Getting The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is best experienced in this new incarnation. Where a lot of the planned features from the original entry have been fixed, it is better to play than ever before with its fast gameplay and lush visuals.

Sony PlayStation State of Play 2021

Sony kicked off the July edition of State of Play with a bang. At first glance a view might be forgiven for mistaking the opening trailer for a Lord of the Rings video game. The opening visual resembles the Eye of Sauron. eye of suron

Moss Book II on PlayStation VR

In all actuality, the trailer is for Moss Book II for the PlayStation VR. The visuals from the teaser look solid, and it looks like a cute game with a mouse serving as the protagonist for its fantasy setting.

Arcadegeddon

The second title revealed was Arcadegeddon. Arcadegeddon’s trailer boasts some nice visuals accompanied by electronic music with some serious bounce. Aesthetically, the game looks like the lovechild of Splatoon and Overwatch conceived with a futuristic backdrop inspired by the 1990s. It’s a co-op multiplayer shooter with a third-person perspective that is currently out on early access right now.

Tribes of Midgard

tribes of midgard state of play Next up on the docket is a 10 player RPG called Tribes of Midgard. During the trailer one of the developers revealed they planned on releasing the game in seasons. The goal of the game is to prevent Ragnarök. Tribes of Midgard boasts a setting based off of Norse mythology and has up to eight classes to play as in the game. With the seasonal releases the developer will be doing, the game will be one to keep an eye out for upon its release on both the PS4 and PS5 come July 27th.

FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch

FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch is an impressive looking action platformer. The gameplay is in a two-dimensional perspective complemented by a fantasy/sci-fi setting with anthropomorphic characters. It is set to drop on both the PS4 and PS5 by September 7th.

Hunter’s Arena: Legends

We got a peek at Hunter’s Arena: Legends. This game is currently out on steam and will be ported over to both the PS4 and PS5 consoles. It’ll be made available on Playstation Plus starting August 3rd.

Sifu

The next game teased was called Sifu. We see a martial artist fighting in a bar. As he fights, the trailer displays the age of the protagonist at 40 and increases it by several years. This increase in age happens several times throughout the trailer. The protagonist seems to slow down, so the age progression is likely to be a major feature of the game. It’s unclear from the trailer if the player character advances in age as a consequence of being killed. What we do know for certain about Sifu is that the title will unfortunately be delayed. Instead of coming out in 2021, it’s been bumped back to early 2022.

Jett: The Far Shore

The next title’s visuals had us drooling. Jett: The Far Shore boasts a sci-fi setting with a gritty yet colorful aesthetic. Gameplay on it seems to be a mystery at present, but we do know it is coming out later this year for the PS4 and PS5.

Fans of the Anime Demon Slayer

Fans of the anime Demon Slayer are in for a treat this coming October 15th. Demon Slayer The Hinokami Chronicles is being developed by Sega for the PS4 and PS5. From what they’ve teased, players will have the opportunity to control different characters from the show throughout the game in a third-person action perspective. Sega isn’t settling for just Demon Slayer. They’re also doing Lost Judgment, which is a spin off of the Yakuza franchise. The game has a rhythm section, a boxing section, parkour and racing. Needless to say, Lost Judgment is shaping up to be quite the ambitious release. It is set to be available on September 24th. The next title has been deeply anticipated by many: Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding. It’s the director’s cut that has been released with enhancements and new story additions. It definitely looks superior to the previous PS4 offering. It’ll be available September 24th, same day as Sega’s Lost Judgment.   deathloop state of play The finale for State of Play was Deathloop. It’s a next-gen first-person shooter with several nifty mechanics. If the protagonist dies, the player can rewind time. The game is based on trial and error, where each death will help the player learn the layout and enemy positioning. Other components of the player’s arsenal includes telekinesis, teleportation and the aforementioned rewind system. The title is set to be an exclusive to the PS5 that’ll be released by September 14th. Sony has brought fans an exciting set of offerings to look forward to throughout the remainder of 2021.

Staying Secure with iPads & iPhones to avoid Virus in 2021

It is 2021, and I use MacOS and Windows everyday all day. Windows is a whole another discussion for another time. I have even been spending sometime playing COD on my iPhone which has makes for interesting train rides. However, recently, I was asked how do I keep my iPhone safe? I thought to myself, that there is some much to tackle in that question that I decide to write how I would keep my device safe from 5 of the main factors, software updates, app updates, safari, google chrome and app downloads. When it comes to your Apple device, whether it is an iPad or iPhone, few tips you should consider with keeping you phone as secure as possible.

Apple iOS Software Updates

The first step in staying secure with apple, is staying up to date with software updates and app updates. They are important. If they release one and you update and you see another the very next day, you should prioritize updating it. Mostly, there was something that was missing or caused a issue and they want you to go back to a more secure software update. Software updates on ios To Check for Software Updates on Your iPhone or iPad
  • First click on the on +Setting
  • Then click on General
  • Then Click on Software Updates
  • Here you will see if an update is required. Click to install and that is it.
It usually requires Wi-Fi, so remember that.

iOS App Updates

The next factor just like the software update are the app updates which come with most modification for apps but also security updates. To Check for App Updates on Your iPhone or iPad
  • First click on the on +App Store (if an update is required, the app will have little red numbers in the top right)
  • Then click on blue circle icon in the top right corner
  • Here you will see if an update is required. Click to update all and that is it.
  • You can also select a particular app to update.
I would make sure you are using Wi-Fi to update this, so remember that.

Safari Browser

Safari can be a source of issues with your device and should be cleaned every so often or if you go to a site that looks like it took you there and not related to the content you were watching. To Clear Safari on Your iPhone or iPad Remember clearing the app may remove saved passwords, and other autofill data you have on your device. So be prepared before you clear your app. Clear safari browsing history
  • First click on the on +Setting
  • Then click on Safari
  • Then click on Clear History and Website Data
  • Hit clear when it pops up and that is it.

Google Chrome

Like many, I also use Google Chrome for browsing as a well and recommend that if you take the time to clear Safari you clear Google chrome at the same time (any browser app you use). To Clear Google Chrome on Your iPhone or iPad Remember clearing the app may remove saved passwords, and other autofill data you have on your device. So be prepared before you clear your app.
  • First click on the on Google Chrome App
  • Then click on 3 dots in the top right  …
  • Then click on Settings
  • Then Click on Privacy
  • Then Click on Clear Browsing History
Now here is the removal section
  • You can Remove from Time Range -> LAST HOUR
  • You can Remove from Time Range -> LAST 24 HOURS
  • You can Remove from Time Range -> LAST 7 DAYS
  • You can Remove from Time Range -> LAST 4 WEEKS
  • You can Remove from Time Range -> ALL TIME
The most important selections to make sure are checked is the browsing history, cookies, site data and cached images and files. This should remove anything connected visiting an unwanted site. You can also remove passwords and autofill data. The choice is yours to make. To remove everything to ensure you have removed any issues you may have downloaded, you should choose “All Time” and check all 5 selections.

Downloading Apps only from Apple App Store

Make sure you always download your apps from App Store directly and not some 3rd party site. You may want to consider deleting any apps that are not from the Apple App Store that you feel may cause you issues or may think is affecting your device.

Rick and Morty – Season 5 Episode 1 – Mort Dinner Rick Andre

There are definitely spoilers if you haven’t seen the first episode on adult swim. It has been a long year of waiting, but Rick and Morty has returned with a solid premiere for its latest season. Mort Dinner Rick Andre continues the show’s theme of traumatizing Morty while Rick remains apathetic towards the whole affair. Not that we can blame Rick. He’s got his own hands full dealing with his self-proclaimed nemesis, Mr. Nimbus. The episode starts with a crash landing. Accepting his grim fate, Morty makes a call to Jessica and confesses his feelings towards her. She is receptive to this gesture and wants to come over for dinner. With dying no longer an acceptable outcome, Morty lands the damaged ship into the middle of the ocean. Much to Rick’s chagrin, their choice in landing heralds the arrival of Mr. Nimbus, the aforementioned nemesis. This sparks a series of events that forces Rick to invite Nimbus to the household to sign a treaty while Morty is having to juggle a date with Jessica in the middle of all the chaos. If you’ve been watching this series for any length of time, you already know everything is going to go wrong. Unfortunate circumstances are always part of the fun with this show. Mr. Nimbus enjoys a very specific wine that has to be aged. Rick, irritated with Morty, has him use portal technology to age the wine. All he needs to do is periodically go through the portal, which will take him to a Narnia like world, and time will have advanced, aging the wine in turn. One of the inhabitants helps Morty carry the wine into his world. This decision causes a chain of events that leads the members of the portal world to declare a blood feud against him. Meanwhile, Jessica decides she wants some of the wine, forcing Morty to return to the portal. Each subsequent trip has the society advance technologically while becoming increasingly threatening to him. The episode culminates with Jessica being kidnapped, forcing Morty to launch a rescue mission that goes horribly awry.

Jessica Becomes Frozen in Time

Morty remains the universe’s chew toy. The writers have Jessica become frozen in time and forced to watch the portal inhabitants evolve. She’s essentially a time-god that sees everything. After she is rescued, she comes to the realization that Morty and her won’t work out romantically. His love life going off the rails is the norm for this show, but it was creative to see how the writers botched it for him this time. The series is typically episodic, so she’ll revert to normal come future episodes. Well, whatever constitutes as normal in the Rick and Morty universe.

Excited For Season 5 of Rick and Morty

We are definitely looking forward to season 5 of Rick and Morty. With the humor blended with the usual sci-fi hijinks makes for a good laugh and a solid start to the newest season.

From Dan Harmon and Jeff Loveness

At the end of the episode, we get a rare Dan Harmon and writers moment where they dive into the episode and how this all came together. This is definitely similar to the end of most episode on HBO Max episodes. Mr. Nimbus is the king of the ocean. He also inexplicably controls the police. This power is never explained, but Rick tells Jerri and the audience to accept it. Jerri refuses to do so and calls the cops. Nimbus has them fight each other, engage in physical relations with one another and flee. Jessica witnesses this scene for her date with Morty. Just the sight a prospective partner loves to stumble upon. Jerri and Beth are also trying to become couple positive active. They bond through watching adult content together. Naturally, Morty isn’t thrilled to hear this news, as most kids wouldn’t want to know about their parents exploits in the bedroom. However, they manage to add a alternative version of what the parents are watching in a Nintendo reference with Jessica. Still, it is a nice change of pace for the parents, who are usually fighting in most episodes. One of the best features of this episode is how there is a greater focus on side characters.

Summer Cell Phone Scene

This scene goes really unnoticed for the Summer in this episodes but one of my favorite, where summer is just slaughtering underwater creatures from an Aquaman reference. This scene was so brief, I must have replayed it 10 times. We see Rick, who is forced to sit and listen to his nemesis, still get caught up spending time watching summer killing Mr. Nimbus guards to get what gives him his power. It is either Rick monitoring the progress of this task, or him being over protective to watch summer. Either way, you get the impression he is always watching. It also points to the fact that both Morty and Summer straight up slaughter other worlds.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Review

Insomniac Games has struck gold again with what may be the most thrilling installment in the Ratchet and Clank series. Their latest entry boasts addicting gameplay with a heavy emphasis on speed and exploration. Toss in colorful visuals that’ll dazzle players every time and tack on an awesome story for good measure to have a fantastic recipe for success. ratchet ps5 rift apart game

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Story

The plot involves Clank, Ratchet’s robot companion, constructing the Dimensionator. It’s a nifty device that can let the user travel to multiple dimensions. Unfortunately, something with a utility like that is destined to be stolen. Dr. Nefarious, a reoccurring nemesis for the duo and evil robot overlord, snags it and plans to transport our heroes into a reality where he always wins. Saving the world isn’t easy, especially when the fate of multiple dimensions hangs in the balance. ratchet and clank ps5 rift apart game

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Gameplay

There are a lot of bells and whistles to unpack. Insomniac Games was nice enough to include a button remapping feature for the player in case they wanted to customize their controls. A sprint button has been added to the lineup of controls. This title includes core mechanics found in of some of the older titles of the series. At its heart, the game is a platformer with a third person interface that includes run-and-gun mechanics, but with nifty additions, such as wall running, dashing while strafing and rift hopping. The latter option of rift hopping is a fantastic way to close the gap on enemies. Ratchet is armed with his trusty OmniWrench and a wild assortment of gun weapons perfect for taking down mechanical baddies. There are different sets of armor that can be mixed and matched to varying effect. It’s best to collect the armor pieces belonging to the same set to gain fantastic advantages, such as buffing melee damage by 20%, or increasing bolt weaponry. Rivet from ratchet & Clank ps5 rift apart game

Rivet in Ratchet and Clank

We can’t discuss the latest installment without mentioning Rivet. She is Ratchet’s female counterpart, a lombax at war as a member of the resistance fighting against the robotic scourge. Rivet is a jaded version of Ratchet, and she brings an interesting amount of seriousness that offsets the series usual comedic charm. Rivet’s controls are identical to Ratchet, so if the player can master him, she’s just as easy to utilize in the game. Other than that, she offers a lot of personality where she is mistrustful of robots and a lot more brash compared to the protagonist.

Graphics

The game boasts ray tracing technology to offer stunning visuals. The game also has a patched 60FPS mode and suffers no slowdown from all the fast-paced action. The graphics and gameplay shine together with the rift hopping. Not an ounce of slow down when hopping from one planet to another seamlessly, which is impressive to watch. Visually, this game is one of the best offerings on the PS5. ratchet and clank ps5 exclusive

Verdict on Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a worthy entry into the series and has a wonderful foundation for the sequel. Gameplay is on the easy side, but never boring, and the story has the same comedic charm of previous entries while still knowing when to ramp up the tone. With fast paced gameplay and beautiful visuals, this title is definitely one players will enjoy. Everything comes together nicely to make for a fantastic experience. The developers at Insomniac Games should definitely pat themselves on the back for a job well done.

iPad Air 4 Generation and Keyboard Review

Simply put, the iPad Air 4 may be Apple’s best iPad offering yet. Its upgraded aesthetics are on par with the Pro models, it packs a powerful processor under the hood, and it’s compatible with the new Magic Keyboard. I recently picked one up as an alternative to a Microsoft Surface. I usually go with Windows but there really are not many great portable options with build cell access that allow for complete access to remote files.

Design

Borrowing design elements from the iPad Pro, the iPad Air 4 Generation is an objectively great-looking tablet. It comes in multiple colorways, including blue, green, rose gold, silver, and gray. It did take me by surprise that it would feel like my iPad Pro but definitely a smart move because it made me want to buy it more. One key design difference between the 3rd and 4th generation iPad Air is the home button removal. The iPad Air 4 generation loses the button but gains screen size, up to 10.9 inches compared to the 3’s 10.5.

Power and Battery

More than just a pretty face, the iPad Air 4 brings some serious power to the table. Apple’s A14 Bionic chip is one of the most powerful single-core tablet processors on the market, so this iPad easily handles strenuous multitasking. It tackles streaming, media editing, and gaming with ease. While pushing this tablet to its limit can drain its 28.6 watt-hour battery in a hurry, it’s still rated as an all-day battery and can last over 8 hours on a single charge.
ipad air 4 magic keyword

Magic Keyboard

Magic Keyboard integration sets this iPad apart from other tablets available today. The Magic Keyboard’s design is second to none. Held fast by magnets, the keyboard is perfectly placed under the iPad, and the tactile feel of the keys mimics a real keyboard. Using the iPad Air 4 with the Magic Keyboard feels like using an actual laptop, making it an ideal choice for gamers transitioning to a tablet.

Overall

In 2021, the iPad air 4 with the magic keyboard is still a great option. Especially if you plan to get an unlocked one with cell service.
Altogether, this mighty tablet is a more than capable MacBook replacement. The iPad Air 4 with Magic Keyboard combines the portability of a tablet with the power of a laptop.

Biomutant Review

If the sound of playing as an anthropomorphic creature in a post-apocalyptic world appeals to you, look no further than Biomutant. The game offers a third person perspective blended with a solid dose of RPG mechanics. We’re talking stat growth, martial arts, gun and sword play, leveling up and weapon crafting. biomutant lightning

Biomutant Visuals

Aside from the cute anthropomorphic character we play as, the game as a lot of charm with its graphics. The game sends the player to all sorts of different venues. A vibrant forest, an underwater level, ruins with rays of light bursting through the torn ceiling and rocky plateaus with a myriad of pretty colors. The game was developed on the Unreal Engine 4, which leads to the excellent attention to detail when it comes to rendering shadows and vibrant colors. There are several nifty stylistics choices that meld into the gameplay. The player can see the damage inflicted on enemies through numbers that pop off them when hit. Another stylistic choice will remind gamers of a comic book. Sounds effects get their own special box of text that’ll occasionally protrude from weapons when reloading or an enemy when injured. biomutant machine

Biomutant Gameplay

Combat is a nifty blend of melee and gun fighting. Depending on the character build, the player will have access to mutant abilities as well. Some levels even have the player pilot mech-suits. Crafting is the main feature to be excited about in the game. There are many opportunities to harvest resources to make new weapons. Find a weapon you don’t like? Scrap it for parts to make a better weapon. The awesome thing about the customization is the weapon choice feeds into a lot of stats. Armor piercing, critical hit chance, fire rate and even reload speed. The player simply picks a base for their weapon and modifies it with addons that determine how well those stats increase. Another nifty feature with crafting is how additional effects can be either applied to the weapon or the player character’s stats. So experimenting with the pickups is highly recommended for a satisfactory gameplay experience. Progression is non-linear, as the game has an open world setup. The world can be traveled through a variety of different modes. We have the standard foot mode, air travel and mech. Another useful feature is ally recruitment. The chosen ally can impact how the story unfolds, as well as unlock additional quests. biomutant beast

Biomutant Story

Humans do not inhabit the world of Biomutant. Everything you encounter will be a creature of some sort. Some are intelligent and ally with the player. Other characters provide quests. The medium used to tell the story is through a narrator. Player choices naturally effect the direction the narrator will go in their oration of the events. biomutant review

Biomutant Verdict

The developers undoubtedly had a creative vision in mind for this title. RPG mechanics blended with gun play, mutations and martial arts make for a unique, but satisfying experience. Check out Biomutant on Xbox Series X or PS5.

Returnal for PlayStation 5 Reviews

When it comes to making a brutal, third person, run and gun, videogame, Housemarque knows how to bring on the pain. Returnal is a lot of different things. An easy game on the PS5? The player only wishes that to be the case. The game is a roguelike. Death will be inevitable, no matter how you slice it. returnal ps5 fighting monsters

Returnal on PS5 Story

Selene, our protagonist and space explorer, disobeys orders from her employer as she decides to investigate a strange signal called the White Shadow. Investigating a strange noise is a bad idea in any medium, a lesson she learns when her ship inevitably crashes. She’s stranded. Her transmissions are going unanswered. As if her circumstances weren’t horrible enough, she discovers a dead body. Specifically, the corpse she stumbles upon is her own, which serves as the plot point of the game. It’s a Groundhog Day scenario, but with aliens and a hailstorm of projectiles thrown into the mix. returnal ps5 fighting

Returnal on PS5 Gameplay

The controls are tight and satisfying, designed with a fast pace in mind for the gameplay. Selene has a large arsenal at her disposal. Fast dashes to sidestep projectiles, weapons with their individual skill trees and parasites which give both a buff and debuff. Given this game has a psychological element of horror as a theme, the parasite mechanic is a nice touch on the developer’s part. These blended systems give the player a variety of options when it comes to approaching each encounter. So Selene might have an awesome weapon on hand. However, you might find another weapon with a useful skill tree that the player can use to improve their subsequent runs after dying. With the large variety of combinations available, the game never gets dull when it comes to having to improv on the fly to conquer the alien world of Apropos.
